CMMN WLTH 108 - Cheat Codes for Creators, Makers & Doers
Good Morning My Friends,
This week I have the pleasure of introducing Ruth Cocking, founder / operator of Laceless Design & Talent Studio.
Together with her husband Dan, they’ve built the biggest footwear community on the internet and over the past 18 months have turned it into a thriving business.
Their community is truly something special and reflection of their approach to business; selfless promotion of talent in the pursuit of creativity.
If you’re looking for inspiration or creatives for your next project they’re the team to go to.
Please enjoy this week’s guest curation.
Hey!
My name is Ruth Cocking and it’s a pleasure to be part of this community.
CMMN WLTH has provided us with a constant source of inspiration, connecting us with like minded individuals.
It’s the sense of belonging and support that make communities great.
My husband Dan and I have built a successful community ourselves and over the past year we have created a design talent business called Laceless from it.
Initially, it grew by sharing great footwear design ideas and hosting design competitions which sparked conversation, collaboration and a place to be inspired.
We’ve taken it further this year and have been busy connecting the community to brands. Assembling external creation teams with the aim of delivering footwear ranges better, faster and cheaper.
We’re on a mission to inspire, empower and connect footwear creatives.
Our annual competition, The Laceless Design Challenge launches this week!
The brief:
Did you know that 82% of female football players suffer regular discomfort from their boots?
In time for the Women’s World Cup we are rallying the community to design a boot specifically for the needs of women.
In today's guest post, you’ll find 3 interesting thoughts that I hope will inspire your workflow, challenge how you recruit and get you moving on that business idea.
If you want some daily footwear inspiration, give Laceless a follow and I’d love to connect with you on LinkedIn.
See the future of women's football by following the #lacelesschallenge on Instagram.
Have a great day,
Ruth

Build What Customers Want.
“The way to discover if your business is a good idea is to never mention it at all.”
When doing research, ask about someone’s behavior, not hypothetical scenarios.
People will lie to you. It’s your job to make sure they don’t by asking correct questions.
Questions you ask should terrify you. They could disprove your start-up idea.
