This week I have the pleasure of introducing you to Dan Bulteel.
Dan and I used to work for the same company and, although we never worked directly with each other, he’s one of those guys who I knew I would collaborate with in the future.
He lives at the cutting edge of digital marketing, technology and gaming and publishes his knowledge in his newsletter “Life on 1% Battery” (link below).
Dan is a truly curious individual who has a talent for explaining complex topics in a simple way.
Please enjoy this special curation.
— Andy
Hello everyone,
It's great to be here with all of you today.
I'm Dan, and I'm excited to share my professional journey with you.
I first met Andy at adidas, where I led the company's social media and creator marketing efforts. Since then, I've had the privilege of working at TikTok, ByteDance, and now Build A Rocket Boy on an exciting new project.
My journey has taken me through the worlds of agency, brand, platform, and start-up, across sports, tech, entertainment, and gaming. Along the way, I've been fortunate to encounter exceptional leadership and opportunities that have propelled me to where I am today.
As someone who believes in paying it forward, I regularly mentor founders and share my experiences through my "Life on 1% Battery" newsletter. I hope my contribution today will inspire you in some way, and I'm available to offer further assistance if needed.
In these challenging times, it's more important than ever that we come together and support one another. As the saying goes, "a rising tide lifts all boats," and I believe that by sharing our experiences and insights through forums like CMMN WLTH, we can help each other achieve great things.

A Delightful Innovation We Didn’t Know We Needed
“Innovation is not just about coming up with new ideas — we do have a fair number in circulation. Execution can be innovative, we see it all the time.”
Innovation is not just big ideas, it can be simple design.
It’s understanding how your product is used, and continually finding ways to improve it.
Data can help inform product, but some things customers never knew they could have.

Time vs. Energy
“No one wants your time. What they want is your energy”
Your undivided attention for a short time is more valuable than being distracted for a longer time.
People seek your presence and engagement, not just your time.
Prioritise scheduling meetings based on the amount of full energy you can give. 10 minutes at 100% energy is better than 30 minutes at only 10%.
*Process
Time vs. Energy
“If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough”
There’s an art and beauty to explaining complex topics simply.
Don’t get lost in jargon and concepts, break it down to its simplest terms.
You will learn more deeply and communicate more effectively.
